How to check filesystem type

Linux has different types of file system. If you want to find what type of file system is using, then you can use mount command.

[root@superhost ~]# mount

/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-root on / type ext3 (rw)
none on /proc type proc (rw)
none on /sys type sysfs (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)
/dev/sda1 on /boot type ext3 (rw)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-home on /home type ext3 (rw)
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-opt on /opt type ext3 (rw)
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-tmp on /tmp type ext3 (rw)
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-usr on /usr type ext3 (rw)
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-usr_local on /usr/local type ext3 (rw)
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-var on /var type ext3 (rw)
